Sofia DeBenedittis
Instructional Development Program Manager & Advantage Kids
Lead Coach
My Story
Sofia’s journey with tennis began as a child, playing at a local park with her family, where the game quickly became the highlight of her summers. That love for tennis led to earning the #1 singles position at Montbello High School as a freshman. Growing up in a community where few kids played tennis, Sofia learned early on to embrace the challenge and intensity of competition. Over time, however, the pressure caused her to lose sight of the joy the game could bring. That perspective shifted when she stepped away from competition and returned to the game simply for fun. Some of Sofia’s most meaningful moments on the court have been spent hitting with her dad, who remains her favorite hitting partner and a constant reminder that tennis—and life—is not about winning or losing, but about doing your best. That philosophy continues to shape how she coaches today.
Sofia has been coaching tennis for approximately eight years, beginning with Aurora Parks and Recreation. In the summer of 2019, she joined Denver Tennis Park as a seasonal coach and quickly connected with the organization’s mission and community. In 2020, she transitioned into a full-time role, and since 2024, she has served as the Instructional Development Program Manager on the Youth Program Team. In this role, Sofia helps shape instructional practices and supports coaches in creating meaningful, engaging experiences for every child on the court.
Sofia is Double-Goal Coach certified through the Positive Coaching Alliance, a certified tennis professional through the RSPA, and is currently working toward becoming a Coach Developer through USTA Coaching. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family and playing a wide variety of sports. She is currently especially enthusiastic about softball and is having fun learning how to play volleyball. Sofia believes deeply in the power of sports to bring people together and help young people thrive, and she is grateful to contribute to that work every day.
